“Good artists copy. Great artists steal.” Picasso

This comment is based on the post by Jason the Content Librarian entitled “On Imitation and Stealing in Library Innovation”

http://www.jasoneiseman.com/blog/?p=339

Librarians have been “stealing” ideas from other librarians and incorporating them into their own libraries. I think that the secret lies in learning how to take what is “stolen” and use it in your own genuine way to introduce it to your library to be able to reap the most benefits from the idea.

Overall I think that Jason’s point is that anyone can copy an idea from someone else but it takes a lot of skill, determination and originality to turn it into something amazing and successful. By looking at a simple idea and it response provides more ideas on how to enhance it and make it even more successful.
